The Paper Place is having a contest to win a sample of each pattern of Japanese Chiyogami paper that they stock. I often use Chiyogami paper myself as I just love the colours and the intricate patterns and you can see an example of it being used as endpapers for one of my handbound books here. BRIGHT LONGSTITCH JOURNALS
Felt inspired to make these nice longstitch journals today. I wanted to try out this synthetic book covering material which I purchased in the Papeterie Michel, in Aix en Provence. There are some really nice colours to choose from, as well as different "grains" and it comes already backed with black paper.
For these journals I decided on a non-adhesive binding and I chose the elegant yet simple longstitch binding and I filled them with the chunky somerset velvet paper. I find the proportions of the "Golden Ratio" really pleasing, so have stuck with sizing the journals accordingly.
I finished them off with leather ties and some really lovely glass beads. Even although they don't have leather covers, I really like these journals - although I really can't decide which one is my favourite!
