For many years now, I have been writing in my journals. Like everyone else, I have allowed this habit to lapse from time to time, however, I have always found myself to be at my most creative when I have been actively journaling. Mostly, I do stream of consciousness writing, not really focusing much on the form or the grammar, but more on the content - just putting down on paper whatever comes into my head. Today, I touched on the idea of journal prompts and decided to write some to help me focus more on my creativity, (the photo above shows the result of my efforts). I thought I would share the first one with you.
Just in case the text in the photo is not legible, it reads -
What is it about your chosen craft that brings you most pleasure and satisfaction?
Of course for me, bookbinding gives me the opportunity to work with paper and other great natural materials, it satisfies my desire to work with my hands and it allows me to focus on my need for precision, since I love doing exacting work that requires attention to detail. However, I think what brings me most pleasure and satisfaction, is to imagine a virtual book and then to use all of the materials and skills at my disposal to make that idea become a reality. Of course, the outcome is not always what I had envisioned or hoped for, there are some disappointments, some happy accidents and even some great surprises when the final result exceeds my expectation!
Why have you chosen your particular art or handcraft and what do you love about doing it?
